The southern part of Corfu is the flattest area, with gently rolling hills descending to the sea and long sandy beaches. Agios Georgios beach is a perfect example of this region: located on the south-western coast, it stretches for just under 10 kilometres, making it one of the island’s largest beaches.
The beach boasts soft golden sand and the occasional flat rock jutting out here and there.
Just inland from Agios Georgios lies the Korission Lake Nature Reserve, a wetland area ideal for birdwatching.
The area around Agios Georgios is also perfect for kitesurfing and cycling trips through verdant hills covered with olive groves and numerous traditional villages, including Agirades.
The area remains relatively underdeveloped in terms of tourism, though you’ll find plenty of quality hotels and apartments, along with all the amenities you could need. Agios Georgios beach is ideal for those seeking a relaxing holiday immersed in nature, but don’t worry—there are plenty of tavernas serving authentic Greek cuisine and fresh seafood.
To reach Agios Georgios beach, take the main road from Corfu town towards Kavos and Lefkimmi, pass through Moraitika and once you reach Agirades, follow the signs for Agios Georgios.
