Erikoussa is the northernmost and most visited island of the small Diapontie archipelago, situated off the northwestern coast of Corfu.
Pristine nature, stunning beaches, breathtaking landscapes, charming small hotels and welcoming tavernas make it the perfect destination for those seeking a secluded and peaceful retreat, away from the crowds.
Erikoussa’s main harbour nestles between two small hills in one of the island’s two large bays.
Around the harbour sits the island’s largest settlement, complete with shops, cafés and tavernas, as well as a pharmacy. Just nearby, you’ll find the Stamoleka beach, a gorgeous stretch of sand shelving gently into shallow waters.
Pranghini beach, on the far side of the island, is equally lovely and peaceful, reached via a scenic path through the vegetation.
Should you decide to spend a few days on Erikoussa, you can easily explore this predominantly flat, almost circular island—just 2 kilometres across—by bike or on foot, following numerous trails lined with olive and cypress trees.
Visit the island’s old harbour, Fiki, on the western side of Erikoussa, just behind the Koukouli headland, and the village of Milos. The northwestern coastline is rocky and steep; here you’ll find Sandardo hill, the island’s highest point at 130 metres, offering spectacular views.
The island’s other tiny settlements—named after the abundant heather shrubs (riki in Greek) found here—include Gritsiatika, Nikolaitika, Tandoulis, Paliokaliva, Soukia, Porta, Dendra and Gitonies, as well as the older villages of Turi and Kesepatika. You’ll also find clay on the island, commonly used by visitors for beauty treatments.
