Glifada, γλυφαδα to the Greeks, is a golden, soft sandy beach on the west coast, 16 kilometres from Corfu’s main town. This stretch of fine sand slopes into crystal-clear waters with a shallow seabed, which can occasionally get choppy – perfect for children.
Hugely popular with young visitors for its beachfront bars, Glifada has a small rocky section on the left side that creates lovely little natural pools, whilst the rest of the beach is equipped with sun loungers and parasols for hire.
To reach the stunning beach at Glifada, which many consider the best in Corfu, you’ll need to head through the heart of the island along a winding road towards Paleokastritsa.
There’s free parking near the beach during the low season, when you’ll easily find a space, but in high season it fills up quickly and you’ll be asked to pay a modest fee.
