Like most Greek islands, you can reach Corfu by both air and sea.
Corfu Airport is an international hub located just 3 kilometres from the Old Town. It operates daily one-hour flights to and from Athens Eleftherios Venizelos Airport and offers connections with major European airports via Greece’s national carrier, Aegean Airlines, as well as numerous other international airlines, including many charter operators.

You can reach Corfu by ferry from one of two ports on the island: the New Port, Neo Limani, which handles ferries from Italy and mainland Greek ports, and the Old Port, Paleo Limani, used by private yachts and excursion boats. Sea crossings from Italy depart from the ports of Venice, with a journey time of 26 hours, and Ancona, Bari and Brindisi, which take around 8 hours to cross.
If you’d prefer to explore mainland Greece first before unwinding on Corfu’s glorious beaches, you can depart from the port of Igoumenitsa; the crossing takes just over an hour, though this can vary by half an hour depending on the ferry type. Daily sailings run from 6am to 10pm with departures every 15 minutes during summer. Alternatively, the port of Patras offers a longer journey of 7 to 8 hours, though it’s a particularly pleasant crossing aboard modern, luxury vessels.
