Kontokali is an attractive holiday destination just 6 kilometres north of Corfu Town, on the way towards Kassiopi. This village, situated on the road to Gouvia, boasts a lovely sandy beach with some pebbles where you can hire parasols and sunbeds and try your hand at various water sports.
The sand shelves gently into the sea, and this shallow seabed makes it particularly safe and ideal for children. Several tavernas, restaurants and beachfront bars add to Kontokali’s appeal as a tourist destination.
Nightlife isn’t particularly lively—in fact, it’s quite low-key—but the range of accommodation options, from apartments and small family-run hotels to one of Corfu’s few five-star properties, the luxurious Kontokali Beach Hotel, is excellent.
During your stay in Kontokali, you can enjoy some wonderful boat trips departing from the small harbour at Gouvia, such as an evening cruise to Corfu Town or to the many hidden coves along the island’s northeastern coast, complete with a barbecue.
