The town of Paleokastritsa, Παλαιοκαστρίτσα in Greek, takes its name from the small ancient castle nearby, Angelokastro, and sits along the western coast of the island, 25 kilometres from Corfu town.

Paleokastritsa is one of the island’s most celebrated destinations, particularly beloved for its strikingly turquoise waters. The town overlooks a charming clover-shaped bay and is surrounded by hills clothed in woodland and olive groves.

There’s no shortage of beaches here—at least a dozen, ranging from sandy to pebbly. Some are accessible only by boat, whilst many others are equipped with sunbeds and parasols near the town, offering a magnificent spot to watch the sunset.

Paleokastritsa has all the amenities you’ll need: numerous tavernas, supermarkets, shops and bars aplenty. For your stay, you’ll find accommodation across a wide range of prices, with views spanning from the sea to the mountains, and if you’re fortunate, both.

According to Homer’s Odyssey, King Alcinous’s palace, ruler of the Phaeacians, is said to have been located here.

Getting to Paleokastritsa by car is straightforward—simply follow the numerous road signs from Corfu town’s main route. You can choose to pass through the Troumpetas pass, just above the road to Sidari, where you’ll be treated to some stunning scenery along the way.
